The Sur Ron 81v Battery 4070Wh 50Ah Trojan EVO 32Kw High RPM Really rocks, because an electric motor spins so many times per volts. Then add more volts and you get more spins (RPM) and more top speed. But here is the geeky and cool bit (literally): Amps create heat so the less amps you use, the cooler stuff runs. Heat kills electrical components as the heat literally melts soldered contacts internally, insulation burns off and glues melt. The Samsung 50s has had quite  bashing from some online geeks (unfairly so) so we have now introduced a much more powerful and slightly more expensive cell. The full production and tested  (and passed ) EVE 50PL CCC high capacity extreme discharge cell. Hence the price has risen but so has the performance. These  are the cells that are (unfortunately) being used in most of the drone warfare arenas. Designed to give huge punch and power. They make an excellent high power battery.

Sur Ron Battery 81v 22s 4070Wh Trojan EVO High RPM EVE 50PL CCC is capable of peak 25kW power ( peak discharge for 51 seconds until cut off on mosfet temp protection).

20kW continuous at 250A discharge.

Riding Range: 181.5 km (laboratory result measured at the average speed of 25 km/h)

Battery Pack: Grade A 220 * 21700 Cells (EVE 50PL CCC, volts difference less than 0.01V after 10,000Ah cycles)

Cells

There are the amazing EVE 50PL CCC 21700 x 220 cells in this battery and all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. So with this low resistance, they are able to supply enormous amounts of power without over heating.

Exoskeleton /Casing

We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.

Connectors

The main Sur Ron battery to controller and battery to bike connectors we use are a  QS8 on a heavy duty 6 AWG cable. This allows higher power flow and less resistance than a standard cable and connector. We supply a free upgraded high power loom with the battery.

Domestic Electrics

This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down.  This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note, for example that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).

Fitting

Fit the high power cable we provide to directly replace the OEM cable that came with the bike. We supply the battery lid spacer and aluminium hinges.

Connecting To Bike

When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, Slowly connect the qs8 connector, this will  send a restricted current to the controller to wake it up. Then pushing the connector all the way home, will allow full current – You will notice looking down the female connector, that there is a red seal half way down. This is where the restricted part of the connector changes to the full power part of the connector. All this to reduce in rush to the bikes electronics.

Battery Charging

First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”.  Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.

Regen & High Power Set Ups

Running regen on high power set ups can cause damage to both the controller and your battery. The motor can give massive power spikes if the motor is quickly turned into a generator from wheel spin and re-engagement (wheelies, jumps, hitting pot holes hard etc.). The battery is designed to give high power and BMS mosfets struggle to suddenly have such a large reverse current fed into them.

We have seen well known third party controllers give damaging current as the controllers become unreliable under reverse polarity caused by their regen settings. “Motor Off” and thumb regen should be set low or better still turned off. If you are running extreme power like 20+ KW (250A, regen must be turned off. Failure to do so may invalidate your warranty.
