Description

Did you ever get sick of seeing mods just skyrocket in price? We wanted to supply a tough robust reliable controller and battery option that wouldn’t break the bank (too much). A kit that gives the standard bike with the standard motor, real usable performance without all the bells and whistles and extra costs that comes with stuff you really don’t need or want. Does a REAL rider need wheelie control? Does a real rider need a big display to say how much power he is using (should be looking at the trail) or a gazillion different power modes? We think not.

The controller bolts straight onto your bike and uses the original LBX display that gives Eco and Sport mode. The only difference is sport mode with a 72v battery will hit 70+mph and lift the front wheel any time you want (3 times power over standard).

The controller does have a very basic app, which is primarily used for the original: motor tune – throttle tune and battery set up. Its a bit fiddly so if you don’t want to do it, we will! We can remote onto your bike free of charge via a remote session (via your mobile device with you controlling your phone). Think of the kit like this, the same set up you had a before (no gimmicks), just loads MORE power.

A standard SR  has around 1600Wh of range. The Gladiator V2 is 3600Wh. That’s DOUBLE the range!!!

Gladiator V2 sits just 5mm higher than the OEM battery in the bike.  Just like its bigger brothers in the Electron Cycles Battery List, we have used the best, super tough, 316 marine grade stainless steel casing, powder coated inside and out, it has the big ANT  BMS, a single QS8 6AWG cable and pure copper sheet connections. Supplied with a high power bike side loom.

We don’t make a huge amount of money out of these, but all the same same, buying as a Kit (battery and controller) we have shaved the price down even future.

Not everyone wants to go totally ballistic and pay for a BIG power battery and aftermarket motor. When all they really want is great range, 70 (ish) MPH top speed and lightening acceleration.

A standard battery has around 1600Wh of range. The Gladiator V2 is 3600Wh. That’s DOUBLE the range!!!

With an OEM motor, 58T rear sprocket and rider of average weight (circa 75-80Kg)

Exoskeleton /Casing

We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.

Connectors

For the main Sur Ron Battery to controller connectors we use one direct set of discharge cables to the controller via a high capacity QS8 connector using very large 6AWG cables (this reduces internal resistance and heat build up).

Domestic Electrics

This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down.  This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).

Connecting To Bike

The battery is fitted with the same connector as Sur Ron batteries.

Battery Charging

First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.  Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.

Regen & High Power Set Ups

Running regen on high power set ups can cause damage to both the controller and your battery. The motor can give massive power spikes if the motor is quickly turned into a generator from wheel spin and re-engagement (wheelies, jumps, hitting pot holes hard etc.). The battery is designed to give high power and BMS mosfets struggle to suddenly have such a large reverse current fed into them.

We have seen well known third party controllers give damaging current as the controllers become unreliable under reverse polarity caused by their regen settings. “Motor Off” and thumb regen should be set low or better still turned off. If you are running extreme power like 20+ KW (250A, regen must be turned off. Failure to do so may invalidate your warranty.
