Description
Talaria Battery 81v 55Ah THOR EVO 45Kw, More Volts, More RPM, More top speed. Less Field Weakening required. Less heat. More gearing to play with!
Very similar range and power as the much more expensive Zeus, but using a lesser known cell and more coste effective cell.
Talaria Battery s only surpassed by our Molicel P50b batteries, the ZEUS. It is a truly incredible piece of engineering. The build list includes the latest Tenpower 50XG 21700 40A continuous individual cell rating, that actually out performs the highly renowned Molicel P45b. We have been secretly testing these cells for the last 6 months and are truly confident in their exceptional ability. Cells are connected by pure copper sheet connections. The Hybrid BMS is an ANT 550 BMS (220A/550A). The exoskeleton case is made from marine grade stainless steel 316.
Cells
Cells (there are 224 in this battery) all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. Our new Ten[power 50XG 21700 cell has a super low (lower then Molicel p45b that it is replacing) internal resistance. The cell is cheaper than the P45b and hence we are trying to bring these savings to you without reducing performance.
Power
Talaria Battery 81v 55Ah THOR EVO 45Kw power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst) by the Ant 550 BMS. A genuine constant power of 17.9Kw (220A non stop)
Exoskeleton / Casing
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
Connectors
For the main battery to controller connector we use the same type of plug as used by Talaria, but we use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficiently and keeps the connectors from overheating.
One direct set of discharge cables goes to the controller via a high capacity QS8 connector using very large 6 AWG cables with an inline 300A fuse. This reduces internal resistance and heat build up. A separate second set of discharge cables using the original 8 AWG cable via a Talaria OEM plug connects to the OEM loom via the circuit breaker.
Domestic Electrics
This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Fitting
The Talaria Battery 81v 55Ah THOR EVO 45Kw uses two sets of discharge cables. One to fit the original bikes connector. The second goes to an additional cable that we provide that is fixed direct to the controller with an inline 300A fuse. This enables the power to be fed “In Parallel” increasing the electrical flow, reducing resistance and reducing harmful heat. It shares the power delivery and takes the strain away from the original loom. These must be connected in a correct order (simple instructions supplied).
For those using a Torp Controller, Torp do not like direct power to the controller via your second cable. Howevere, our second cable is now fused (300A inline).
Battery Compartment Lids or Lifting Kits
Because of the extra battery height (408mm) minor modification will needed to your bike.
There are several options:
#1 Fit an aftermarket battery compartment lid
#2 Remove the battery plastic base tray in the bike (simply remove the 5 small allen key bolts from the top looking down) and fit our 5mm spacer between the metal battery lid catch and the lid (spacers provided)
#3 Seat Lift Kit option: https://www.electroncycles.co.uk/product/talaria-mx-seat-lift-kit-black-full-e-charged/

Connecting to Bike
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
Battery Charging
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
*Charger Included
*This Battery will not work with an original standard Talaria Controller
Regen & High Power Set Ups
Running regen on high power set ups can cause damage to both the controller and your battery. The motor can give massive power spikes if the motor is quickly turned into a generator from wheel spin and re-engagement (wheelies, jumps, hitting pot holes hard etc.). The battery is designed to give high power and BMS mosfets struggle to suddenly have such a large reverse current fed into them.
We have seen well known third party controllers give damaging current as the controllers become unreliable under reverse polarity caused by their regen settings. “Motor Off” and thumb regen should be set low or better still turned off. If you are running extreme power like 20+ KW (250A, regen must be turned off. Failure to do so may invalidate your warranty.
