Sur Ron Battery 81v 45Kw 50Ah Diablo Evolution . This is the ultimate Sur Ron battery of its height. We wanted to make a slightly more cost effective battery with almost identical performance to its predecessor, but with a substantial cost saving of around £500 GBP. This Sur Ron battery is only surpassed by The ZEUS and is a truly incredible piece of engineering.

As technological advances evolve, we try to keep pace and the new EWE 50PL has even lower internal resistance than the class leading Molicel p50b but with a much lower price tag. The only down size, is the battery needs to be charged at least once a month if not being used.

The build list is like a dream: EVE 50 pl ultra low resistance cells with huge 5Mah capacity. These are the very best cells on the market in the majority of performance and only equalled in some areas by the  illusive and more expensive Molicel p50b.  The battery is made with pure copper sheet connections. The Hybrid BMS is an ANT 550 BMS (250A/550A).  The exoskeleton case is made from marine grade 316 stainless steel.

Cells

There are 220 cells in this Sur Ron Battery 81v 45Kw 50Ah Diablo Evolution . All have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. The EVE 50Pl is classed as one of the worlds premier cells for low resistance at 12.18 mOhm for a high power density (Ah). So with this low resistance, they are able to supply enormous amounts of power without over heating.

There has been scaremongering in some of the FB groups about these cells. The very first batch of the EVE50PL “Grade B” preproduction cells were found to be unstable and suffered extreme self discharge, where cells would drop voltage while being unused at a much higher or extreme rate compared to most other cells. Those cells are considered dangerous and should not be used.

The cells we use, are the very sought after Grade A” cells that cope with huge power demands, an extremly briliant cell. They do however have a slightly greater discharge rate to your average low performance cell, but as these are so powerefull the trade off is that a battery needs to be topped very 3 to 6 months if not being used. After a long “almost empty” ride, they shoud be immediatly charged. “You dont expect a Ferrari to need less servicing than your grannys Fiat”

Power

Sur Ron Battery 81v 45Kw 50Ah Diablo Evolution power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst) by the Ant 550 BMS. A genuine constant power of 20Kw (250A non stop).

Exoskeleton / Casing

We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.

Connectors

The main Sur Ron Battery to controller connectors we use are two QS8 connectors with 6 AWG going direct to the controller and a second smaller 8 AWG with a free high power loom that goes via the red trip (we use the smaller cable on the second set so if you require, we can still use the OEM Supra D6 if preferred), but we use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficiently and keeps the connectors from overheating.

Domestic Electrics

This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down.  This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).

Fitting

We supply two sets of high power looms. One goes through the circuit breaker, the other direct to the controller. This allows the controler to be fed “parrallel” power which greatly improves current flow and reduces resistance (heat), essential for extreme power set ups. Both connectors are anti surge high quality qs8 connectors. We also use full power monitoring BMS, that has power cut off in case of a short circuit.  The bikes circuit breaker is no longer required.

For those using a Torp Controller, Torp do not like direct power to the controller via your second cable.  You can either not use the additional power cable we supply (we do not like to remove these as often buyers transfer batteries to another bike) or, if you are worried about your Torp warranty, you can request one of our 2 into 1 convertors in the checkout notes.  Details of the adapter can be found here:https://electroncycles.com/product/two-into-one-converter-qs8-supra-d6-talaria-oem-any-combination-available/

Connecting to Bike

When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.

Battery Charging

First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.  Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
