The Thor V2 81.4v. Use the Hammer to hit the Power
More Volts, More RPM, More top speed. Less Field Weakening required. Less heat. More gearing to play with!
Talaria Battery 81.4v 22s 4026Wh THOR V2 45Kw. Very similar range and power as the much more expensive Diablo, but taller and heavier. A more cost effective alternative if a touch of height and weight do not really matter.
We wanted to make a slightly more cost effective battery with almost identical performance with only a small sacrifice to range, but a huge price drop of around £300 to he Tor V1 GBP. This Talaria battery is only surpassed by our Molicel P50b batteries The Diablo and Zeus and it is a truly incredible piece of engineering. The build list is like a dream with top secret 21700 60A continiouse individual cell ratings, that actually out perform the highly renowned Molicel P45b. We have been secretly testing these cells for the last 6 months and are truly confident in their exceptional abilty. We undertsand we are being a little coy in naming our cells, as we simply do not want to be be copied and plagerised again by our competitirs who do not put the time and effort in testing as we do. We have howver recoginsd this may put some customers off, so have increased the cell warranty from 12 months too 18 months. (cells only). Cells are connected by pure copper sheet connections. The Hybrid BMS is an ANT 550 BMS (220A/550A). The exoskeleton case is made from marine grade stainless steel 316.
Cells
Cells (there are 224 in this battery) all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. Our new 21700 cell has a super low (lower then Molicell p45b that it is replacing) internal restistance. The cell is cheaper than the P45b and hence we are trying to bring these savings to you without reducing performance.
Power
Talaria Battery 81.4v 22s 4026Wh THOR V2 45Kw power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst) by the Ant 550 BMS. A genuine constant power of 17.9Kw (220A non stop)
Exoskeleton / Casing
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
Connectors
For the main battery to controller connector we use the same type of plug as used by Talaria, but we use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficiently and keeps the connectors from overheating.
One direct set of discharge cables goes to the controller via a high capacity QS8 connector using very large 6 AWG cables. This reduces internal resistance and heat build up. A separate second set of discharge cables using the original 8 AWG cable via a Talaria OEM plug connects to the OEM loom via the circuit breaker.
Domestic Electrics
This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Fitting
The Talaria Battery 81.4v 22s 4026Wh THOR V2 45Kw uses two sets of discharge cables. One to fit the original bikes connector (for |Sur Ron we supply an adapter so it can also fit a Talaria too). The second goes to an additional cable that we provide that is fixed direct to the controller. This enables the power to be fed “In Parallel” increasing the electrical flow, reducing resistance and reducing harmful heat. It shares the power delivery and takes the strain away from the original loom. These must be connected in a correct order (simple instructions supplied).
For those using a Torp Controller, Torp do not like direct power to the controller via your second cable. You can either not use the additional power cable we supply (we do not like to remove these as often buyers transfer batteries to another bike) or, if you are worried about your Torp warranty, you can request one of our 2 into 1 convertors in the checkout notes. Details of the adapter can be found here:https://electroncycles.com/product/two-into-one-converter-qs8-supra-d6-talaria-oem-any-combination-available/
Battery Compartment Lids or Lifting Kits
Because of the extra battery height (407mm) minor modification will needed to your bike.
There are several options:
#1 Fit an aftermarket battery compartment lid found here: https://electroncycles.com/product/talaria-battery-compartment-injection-moulded-battery-lid-to-fit-taller-batteries-not-3d-printed/
#2 Remove the battery plastic base tray in the bike (simply remove the 5 small allen key bolts from the top looking down) and fit our 5mm spacer between the metal battery lid catch and the lid (spacers provided)
#3 Seat Lift Kit option: https://www.electroncycles.co.uk/product/talaria-mx-seat-lift-kit-black-full-e-charged/

Connecting to Bike
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
Battery Charging
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
Charger Not Included
Our recommended charger for this battery is: https://electroncycles.com/product/charger-81v-92-4v-6a/
This Battery will not work with an original standard Talaria Controller
