Talaria Battery 72v Gladiator 20s 50Ah 3600Wh Samsung 50s. Designed for those who want a more affordable, decent range battery that can still max out an OEM motor and keep the weight and size down, keeping the bike light and nibble. Sits just 5mm higher than the OEM battery in the bike. Just like its bigger brothers in the Electron Cycles Battery List, we have used the best, super tough, 316 marine grade stainless steel casing, powder coated inside and out, it has the big ANT 220 BMS, a single QS8 6AWG cable and pure copper sheet connections.
For those wanting to run a Torp controller, this is the perfect battery as we only use one cable and the controller can be maxed out. The TC1000 will run up to 18Kw with this battery.
Capacity: 50Ah
Voltage: 72V
Driving Range: 165 km (laboratory result measured at the average speed of 25 km/h)
Battery Pack: Grade A 21700 Cells (Samsung 50S, volts difference less than 0.01V after 10,000Ah cycles)
Battery Cell Lifespan: Minimum 70% of capacity after 3 years
Standard Power: 19.2 kW/ 250A
Peak Power: 32kW/250A Peak (550A peak BMS for 10 seconds set to 400A peak for this battery)
Voltage Drop: Battery voltage drops 7V at 250A
Cells
There are 200 cells in this battery and all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. So with this low resistance, they are able to supply enormous amounts of power without over heating.
Power
This is a Talaria Battery 72v Gladiator 20s 50Ah 3600Wh Samsung 50s 18Kw power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst for 10 seconds) by the Ant 550 BMS.
Exoskeleton /Casing
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
Connectors
For the main battery to controller connector we use the same type of plug as used by Talaria. We use one set of discharge cable using 8 AWG cable via a Talaria OEM connector to the OEM loom via circuit breaker.
Domestic Electrics
This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Battery Compartment Lids or Lifting Kits
Because of the slightly extra battery height (353mm) minor modification will needed to your bike. Normally we just suggest adding our 3mm spacer under the lock catch. Others remove the base plate (only 5 screws)
There are several options:
#1 Fit an aftermarket battery compartment lid found here: https://electroncycles.com/product/talaria-battery-compartment-injection-moulded-battery-lid-to-fit-taller-batteries-not-3d-printed/
#2 Remove the battery plastic base tray in the bike (simply remove the 5 small allen key bolts from the top looking down) and fit our 5mm spacer between the metal battery lid catch and the lid (spacers provided)
#3 Seat Lift Kit option: https://www.electroncycles.co.uk/product/talaria-mx-seat-lift-kit-black-full-e-charged/

Connecting To Bike
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
Battery Charging
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
