Talaria Battery 72v 55Ah 3960Wh Dominator V4 25Kw
This is a 72v 55Ah Battery capable of peak 25kW power (360a peak discharge for 51 seconds until cut off on mosfet temp protection).
15kW continuous at 200A discharge runs for 4 minutes and 16 second continuous load until cut off on mosfet temp protection.
Cells
There are 220 cells in this battery and all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. So with this low resistance, they are able to supply enormous amounts of power without over heating.
Power
This is a Talaria Battery 72v 55Ah 3960Wh Dominator V4 25Kw power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst for 10 seconds) by the Ant 550 BMS.
Exoskeleton /Casing
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
Connectors
The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Talaria but we use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficiently and keeps the connectors from overheating.
One direct set of discharge cables goes to the controller via a high capacity QS8 connector using very large 6 AWG cables. This reduces internal resistance and heat build up. A separate second set of discharge cables using the original 8 AWG cable via a Talaria OEM connector to the OEM loom via circuit breaker.
Domestic Electrics
This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Fitting
The battery uses two sets of discharge cables. One to fit the original bikes connector (for Sur Ron we supply an adapter so it can also fit a Talaria too). The second goes to an additional cable that we provide that is fixed direct to the controller. This enables the power to be fed “In Parallel” increasing the electrical flow, reducing resistance and reducing harmful heat. It shares the power delivery and takes the strain away from the original loom. These must be connected in a specific order (simple instructions supplied).
For those using a Torp Controller, Torp do not like direct power to the controller via your second cable. You can either not use the additional power cable we supply (we do not like to remove these as often buyers transfer batteries to another bike) or, if you are worried about your Torp warranty, you can request one of our 2 into 1 convertors in the checkout notes. Details of the adapter can be found here:https://electroncycles.com/product/two-into-one-converter-qs8-supra-d6-talaria-oem-any-combination-available/
Battery Compartment Lids or Lifting Kits
Because of the extra battery height (373mm) minor modification will needed to your bike.
There are several options:
#1 Fit an aftermarket battery compartment lid found here: https://electroncycles.com/product/talaria-battery-compartment-injection-moulded-battery-lid-to-fit-taller-batteries-not-3d-printed/
#2 Remove the battery plastic base tray in the bike (simply remove the 5 small allen key bolts from the top looking down) and fit our 5mm spacer between the metal battery lid catch and the lid (spacers provided)
#3 Seat Lift Kit option: https://www.electroncycles.co.uk/product/talaria-mx-seat-lift-kit-black-full-e-charged/

Connecting To Bike
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
Battery Charging
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
Charger NOT Included
Our recommended charger for this battery is: https://electroncycles.com/product-category/batteries-chargers/72v-20s/page/3/
This Battery will not work with a Standard Talaria Controller
