The Diablo Spawn 81.4 – Satanically Powerful
The child of the Diablo
Sur Ron Battery 81.4v 22s 3663Wh 45Ah Diablo Spawn Molicel P45b 40Kw. More Volts, More RPM, More top speed. Less FW required. Less heat. More gearing to play with!
Sur Ron Battery 81.4v 22s 3663Wh 45Ah Diablo Spawn Molicel P45B. This is the slightly smaller (range wise only) of the Diablo Battery. We wanted to make a slightly more cost effective battery with almost identical performance with only a small sacrifice to range, but a huge price drop of around £500 GBP. This Sur Ron battery is only surpassed by its “father” The Diablo and it is a truly incredible piece of engineering.
The build list is like a dream: Molicel P45b (220 cells used). These are the very best cells second only to the illusive and more expensive p50b cells on the market. The P50b cell is under ration from Molicel. Made with pure copper sheet connections. The Hybrid BMS is an ANT 550 BMS (220A/550A). The exoskeleton case is made from stainless steel 316.
Cells
Cells (there are 220 in this battery) all have internal resistance. The more resistance, the more heat they produce, until they start to damage. The Molicel P45b is classed as one of the worlds premier cell for low resistance for a high power density (Ah). So with this low resistance, they are able to supply enormous amounts of power without over heating.
Power
This is a Sur Ron Battery 81.4v 22s 3663Wh 45Ah Diablo Spawn Molicel P45b power as limited by the 550A (peak/burst) by the Ant 550 BMS. A genuine constant power of 17.9Kw (220A non stop).
Exoskeleton / Casing
We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.
Connectors
The main Sur Ron Battery to controller connectors we use are two QS8 connectors with 6 AWG going direct into the controller and a second smaller 8 AWG QS8 connector with a free high power loom that goes via the red trip. We use two sets to share “parallel” the power. This reduces heat, transfers load more efficiently and keeps the connectors from overheating.
Domestic Electrics
This means all your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down. This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note, for example that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).
Fitting
The battery uses two sets of discharge cables. One to fit the original bikes connector (for Talaria we supply an adapter so it can also fit a Sur Ron too). The second goes to an additional cable that we provide that is fixed direct to the controller. This enables the power to be fed “In Parallel” increasing the electrical flow, reducing resistance and reducing harmful heat. It shares the power delivery and takes the strain away from the original loom. These must be connected in a specific order (simple instructions supplied).
For those using a Torp Controller, Torp do not like direct power to the controller via your second cable. You can either not use the additional power cable we supply (we do not like to remove these as often buyers transfer batteries to another bike) or, if you are worried about your Torp warranty, you can request one of our 2 into 1 convertors in the checkout notes. Details of the adapter can be found here:https://electroncycles.com/product/two-into-one-converter-qs8-supra-d6-talaria-oem-any-combination-available/

Connecting To Bike
When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.
Battery Charging
First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time. Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
Charger Not Included
This Battery will not work with an original standard Sur Ron Controller
