Sur Ron Battery 60V 45Ah OEM.R 12Kw Direct Replacement, made by Electron Cycles only and offered as a direct swap in to replace your failing OEM battery (or you simply want more range).  This battery can also be used with an aftermarket controller set to power no more than 12Kw.

No spacers required (although some prefer to fit 3mm, so we supply them), no rattles, more range and works with your OEM controller and an after market controller up to 12Kw.

Your battery is failing and your stuck between waiting ages for an original new Sur Ron battery to become available (they are in limited supply) and paying around £1,400 for a new battery.  This Sur Ron 60v 2700Wh 45Ah Battery OEM.R 12Kw Direct Replacement can handle 12kw SAFLEY, has a full BMS monitoring system and will shut down if a fault is detected.

We made the battery to fit snugly, so no rattles and still with no spacers or extra hinges required. Simply put the battery into the bike the same as your original battery, hook up the volt meter via the connectors that are all in place, plug in the the communication lead “jumper” (the other plug that plugged into the OEM battery) and away you go – with further range.

Exoskeleton /Casing

We have upgraded the casing to marine grade 316 stainless steel, so absolutely no rust issues here! Super tough and powder coated inside and out.

Connectors

The main battery to controller connectors we use are the same type as used by Sur Ron to keep everything compatible. This allows you to swap your standard battery back should you wish. If you have a 2024 Sur Ron with the newer round connector, you may have to retro fit the original Sur Ron battery loom (this is easy and cheap to do).

2024 Sur Ron Bikes

Sur Ron in their wisdom have changed the battery connector for the 2024 model. It does not take as much  power and is very difficult to obtain. These connectors are not compatible with our batteries (or anyone else’s battery). The simple work around is to install a pre 2024 loom. This takes about 30 minutes and is simple to do.  If you then want to run your OEM 2024 battery, you will need to purchase an adapter. Most people sell their OEM battery to offset the cost of this much longer range and more powerful battery upgrade. Some versions of the Sur Ron standard controller may go into limp mode if using this battery with no communication port (not using an aftermarket controller). This will need a very simple modification to the plug that normally connects to the battery. Please see the photo of the battery communication connector we supply.  This is effectively two pins that are crossed with a simple piece of wire with a spade connector.  Note the area circled in red in the photo.

Voltmeter

This Sur Ron Battery does not have an integrated voltmeter.  We supply a voltmeter that nestles in your battery lid.

Domestic Electrics

All your bike accessories are still powered. Some believe that not using the circuit breaker direct to the controller removes the safety of the circuit breaker. However, all our batteries have a full working BMS. Any power shorts or irregular current and the BMS shuts down.  This is much more sensitive and accurate than a mechanical breaker (you may note that the Sur Ron Ultra Bee does not use a circuit breaker and relies on the BMS alone).

Please note that on L1e Bikes an orange warning light may flicker on the main display and a small error code may appear.  There is no fix for this and a consequence of using an aftermarket battery.  Use the voltmeter we supply with your battery to keep track of the batteries state of charge – empty at 48V.

Fitting

This battery is designed to fit straight into the bike and maximize the whole battery compartment.  The hatch bolts will need swapping out with slightly longer bolts and a lid lifting kit that we supply free of charge.

Connecting To Bike

When connecting the battery to the bike and to avoid a spark, turn the red trip switch on the bike to off. Connect the older original power cable and then turn the red trip to on. Then connect the new power leads. Removing the battery has no special order.

Battery Charging

The charging port of this battery is via an XT60 connector with a free adapter supplied to go straight onto your original Sur Ron OEM charger.
Your Sur Ron OEM charger will recharge the battery, but to get the full range out of this battery, you will need to purchase our 60V charger or our Recovery Charger. The standard SR charger can only go as low as 54V yet this battery can go as low as 48V.

First time charging is VERY important. Always connect the charger to the battery with the charger powered up at the mains first. This will stop a “Connection Spark”. The battery needs a “Balance Charge” on first charge. Please charge for 12 hours first time.  Always charge your battery in a safe place and never unsupervised.
